Get ready for some Destination Wedding inspiration!
Beach Ceremony & Vineyard Reception.
In February 2019, I was blessed to photograph Vicky & James' beautiful wedding in Melbourne, Australia. They wed on the beach in the seaside suburb of Dromana Beach on the Mornington Peninsula. Just 10 minutes from James' home and over 10,000 from Vicky's their nearest and dearest travelled miles to witness the pair say their I do's. With emerald waters, sandy beaches and gorgeous weather, Dromana beach seemed to be the best bet in the toss up between rainy England & sizzling Australia.
Weddings on the beach are really something else and definitely scream destination compared to Typical English Weddings. There’s nothing more romantic than saying your vows beneath a bright blue sky, sand between your toes and waves lapping gently behind you. For Vicky & James' wedding, I was so in love with how everything was so personal. James' has spent weeks renovating the boat house and constructing the wooden archway which framed them against the gorgeous beach backdrop.
The Wedding was a subtle shade of light blue and blush pink, wonderfully mirrored by the flawless cyan of the Australian sea and sky. The bridesmaid dresses and boat house even carried the theme and everything tied in beautifully.
I stayed with the family for the few days leading up to the wedding. It was great to spend time with them all. However it wasn't time to relax, everyone was involved and I even spent the night before finishing off the Seating plan! If you know Vicky you will understand her last minute nature and her wedding day wasn't any different!
The day was extremely relaxed and full of fun and laughter, from morning prep to evening I smiled, cried and laughed. It was emotional that some family couldn't be with us and there was nods to them throughout the day.
After the beautifully romantic ceremony on the beach, canapés and drinks were enjoyed whilst we took some time with both the bridal party and the couple for photographs. We popped champagne, we danced on the beach and we enjoyed some beautiful moments.
The party continued at the stunning Still Water Vineyard in Crittenden. Vicky & James had the honeymoon lodge over looking the Lake. It was idyllic and so tranquil here. The wine was flowing well, gorgeous live music was playing as everyone sat on the lawn basking in the sunshine. They had opted for an incredible BBQ feast for the evening which was enjoyed thoroughly as speeches, first dance rolled us into an evening of dancing, laughter and drinks.
The Aussies were shocked by the English ways to party and there were some funny looks as the girls hit the dance floor.
